Dr. Paul Miller, CEO/Principal of Green Tech High Charter School in Albany, New York Inducted Into SCLC

Dr. Paul Miller, CEO/Principal of Green Tech High Charter High School in Albany, New York has been inducted into the SCLC (Southern Christian Leadership Conference), a nationwide organization whose very beginnings can be traced back to the Montgomery Bus Boycott in December 1955 led by Martin Luther King, Jr.  The SCLC is made up of chapters and affiliates with programs that affect the lives of all Americans:  north, south, east and west.  Its sphere of influence and interests has become international in scope because the human rights movement transcends national boundaries.

The SCLC has charged 17 individuals from across the country, all under the age of 40, to assemble as the Next Generation Leadership Council (NGLC) in order to build upon the legacy that the SCLC has started, as well as appeal to youthful demographics.  Dr. Paul Miller of Green Tech High Charter School is amongst the 17 NGLC members, who recently attended the 57th annual National SCLC convention in Baton Rouge Louisiana on July 22-26.  The NGLC members were officially inducted at the National conference and have been hard at work to establish strong roots and foundations that will carry the organization into doing great work for this country and globally.  The NGLC will focus on social, civil, and human rights of all people, as the SCLC passes the torch of activism rooted in Kingian training and beliefs.

The conference focused on several important social topics and issues including justice for girls who are victims of sex trafficking, voter registration and rights, education (being the new form of civil rights) in which Dr. Miller was a featured presenter along with several college presidents, as well as many other social and civil matters.  The conference also provided a platform to 2016 presidential candidates that wanted to share their stance on the issues including Bernie Sanders and Willie Wilson.  Dr. Miller, was recently quoted in a MSNBC feature regarding Sanders’ direct appeal to black voters at the conference. “SCLC means freedom, justice and equality.  It was so important to be a part of this organization because of what it stands for and all that it has done for our country,” stated Dr. Miller regarding his induction into the SCLC.  “Being in a room with individuals who directly are responsible for all minorities being able to vote is very nostalgic.  I believe that being part of the SCLC and the newly formed NGLC will afford me the opportunity to give back to his country on a national level, specifically working to improve issues surrounding poverty and education.”  Green Tech High,  an Albany based nonprofit school, recently graduated nearly 90% of its 2015 Class, with 100% college acceptance and a record breaking year for scholarships and grants awarded.
