April 5, 2018Downtown Albany Restaurant Week returns April 14 through April 20
The Downtown Albany Business Improvement District (BID) has announced the return of one of the Capital Region’s most highly anticipated culinary events of the year: the 14th Annual Downtown Albany Restaurant Week, which runs from Saturday, April 14 through Friday, April 20, 2018. The 17 participating restaurants will offer three-course meals, valued at a minimum of $35, for the fixed price of $25. This event gives locals and visitors alike the opportunity to sample a variety of new and well-established Downtown restaurants. Approximately 10,000 diners are expected to enjoy the promotion throughout the week. Early reservations are encouraged.
The restaurants participating in this year’s Restaurant Week include: The Albany Pump Station, ama cocina, Café Capriccio, The City Beer Hall, Dawn’s Victory Sports Café, The Hollow Bar + Kitchen, Hudson Harbor Steak & Seafood, Jack’s Oyster House, La Serre, The Merry Monk, The Olde English Pub & Pantry, Parish Public House, Pearl Street Pub, Public House 42, The Taverna, V&R Italian Ristorante, and Wellington’s. Ranging from Syrian salad preparations to braised short ribs, tikka masala to chicken piccata, and roasted prime rib to vegan delights, there’s something on the Restaurant Week menus for every taste. A couple of brand new additions to the event this year include The Taverna, an authentic Greek restaurant that recently opened across from the Times Union Center, as well as The Pearl Street Pub, a staple in Downtown.
“Home to many of the Capital Region’s most celebrated restaurants, Downtown Albany is a long-standing culinary destination,” said Georgette Steffens. “The Downtown Albany BID introduced the area’s first Restaurant Week in 2005 to showcase our District’s stellar dining scene. Years later, we are proud to continue to offer the same quality of experience while increasing the diversity and number of options. We’re thrilled to host new eateries and welcome back a number of Albany institutions that have been part of Restaurant Week since the beginning.”
As part of the event, a Student Night promotion will be held on Monday, April 16, during which time college students may present a valid student ID and dine at select venues for the reduced price of $20. The seven restaurants participating in Student Night include The Albany Pump Station, The Hollow Bar + Kitchen, Jack’s Oyster House, La Serre, The Olde English Pub & Pantry, The Taverna, and V&R Italian Ristorante. Diners will also have the chance to win gift certificates from participating restaurants by “checking in” through their social media profiles or by completing Restaurant Week surveys.
It is important to note that free parking is available on-street and in ParkAlbany garages after 5:00 PM on weekdays and all day on the weekend.
