August 27, 2015Devils Name Patrick Rissmiller Development Coach
The New Jersey Devils today named Patrick Rissmiller to the position of development coach. He will join Pertti Hasanen and Scott Clemmensen on the club’s development staff. The announcement was made by Devils’ Executive Vice President/ General Manager Ray Shero.
“Patrick Rissmiller has played at just about every level – high school, college, ECHL, AHL, NHL and Europe, and with multiple organizations,” said Shero. “He will work with all of the players in our organization, as well as our prospects. We feel that he is the ideal individual with the necessary experience and background for this position.”
Rissmiller, 36, joins the Devils’ organization following a 13-season professional playing career, including the past two seasons for Ritten Renon (Italy), which won the 2013-14 championship, as well as consecutive Italian Cup Championships. He spent six seasons, 2002-03 through 2007-08 with the Sharks’ organization, including three seasons, 2005-06 to 2007-08, in the NHL. Rissmiller’s career statistics show 18 goals and 28 assists for 46 points and 60 penalty minutes in 192 NHL games with San Jose, the NY Rangers, Atlanta and Florida. He added 3g-4a-7pts and 10 PIM in 30 Stanley Cup Playoff contests. Rissmiller made his pro debut in 2002-03 by appearing in two matches with Cincinnati (ECHL) and 72 games with Cleveland (AHL). In 2005-06, he was named the Barons’ player of the year, finishing second on the squad with 15g-37a-52pts. Rissmiller’s AHL totals include 128g-239a-367pts and 286 PIM in 554 games played with Cleveland, Hartford, Grand Rapids, Chicago, Lake Erie, Rochester and Worcester from 2002-03 through 2012-13. He played four seasons collegiately at Holy Cross (MAAC), recording 53g-90a-143pts and 116 PIM in 131 games for the Crusaders. Born Oct. 26, 1978, in Belmont, MA, Patrick and his wife, Michelle, have two children, daughter, Eleanor, and son, Nolan.
