Daniel Tiger Hosted by ValleyCats & WMHT Public Media This Season

The Tri-City ValleyCats and WMHT Public Media are excited to announce that Daniel Tiger – the furry star of the award-winning kids’ PBS KIDS program Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood – is coming to Joseph L. Bruno Stadium for “I Love Upstate NY Night” on Thursday, August 27 when the ValleyCats take on the Down East Bird Dawgs. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Through imagination, creativity, and music, Daniel Tiger and his friends learn key social skills necessary for school and for life during the live-action/animated educational musical television PBS KIDS series that debuted in 2012.

“WMHT is thrilled to partner with the ValleyCats to bring the beloved PBS KIDS character, Daniel Tiger, to The Joe,” said WMHT President and CEO Anthony V. Hayes. “We invite communities across the Capital Region and beyond to join us for another unforgettable evening filled with fun, festivities, and fireworks!”

Created by Angela C. Santomero (who also created Blue’s Clues), the show is based on the Neighborhood of Make-Believe from Mister Rogers’s Neighborhood, the family-oriented television series created and hosted by Rogers that aired from 1968 to 2001.

Daniel’s appearance highlights the third-straight WMHT Family Fun Day at the ballpark supported by the Capital Region’s beloved PBS and NPR member station, following a visit from Dr. Seuss’ Cat in the Hat last season. The fun goes beyond the meet-and-greet too, with the ValleyCats wearing their alternate Collar City Cats uniforms before postgame fireworks presented by Upstate New York Toyota.

Fans are always highly encouraged to purchase tickets by visiting  TCValleyCats.com, stopping by the box office at The Joe, or by calling 518-629-CATS. Individual game tickets for all 51 ValleyCats home games are on sale now, along with tickets for this summer’s country concert – hosted by the ValleyCats and 107.7 WGNA – headlined by Russell Dickerson and special guest Niko Moon performing live at Joe Bruno Stadium on Saturday, August 22. Prices for that show range from $120 for the VIP, presented by NextStep FCU, to $40 for the Main Seats.
