Daniel T. Kane Joins Tully Rinckey PLLC’s Firm As Director and Lead Counsel For Business Navigator Program

Tully Rinckey PLLC is pleased to announce that Daniel T. Kane has joined the firm’s Albany, N.Y. office as Director and Lead Counsel of the TR Business Navigator, an affordable, dynamic legal service and guidance program for startups and small businesses.  Through this innovative program, Dan helps entrepreneurs and business owners navigate the legal challenges that come with launching, growing, and strengthening their business.

“For several years, I’ve been at the forefront of small business issues.  Burdensome regulations. Unfair trade practices. Frivolous assertions of intellectual property rights. Lopsided disputes over government contracts. I’ve witnessed the legal obstacles entrepreneurs and business owners face, especially when they can’t afford an attorney. With the TR Business Navigator, Tully Rinckey is attempting to fill that void, to provide startups and small businesses with someone they can trust – and afford — to navigate them through their legal issues. I’m truly excited to help lead this effort,” said Dan.

Prior to joining Tully Rinckey PLLC, Dan spent several years with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) serving in various roles focused on small business issues. In his role at the SBA Office of Advocacy, Dan was an advocate for small businesses and other small entities in federal regulations, legislation, and international trade policy.  Later, as an Attorney Advisor for the SBA Office of Hearings and Appeals, Dan helped resolve complex disputes between small business government contractors, often reviewing businesses’ size, status, and economic relationships to prevent large businesses from gaming the system.

Dan has also served at the U.S. International Trade Commission, interning for The Honorable Thomas B. Pender and, separately, for the Staff Attorneys in the Office of Unfair Import Investigations.

Dan is licensed to practice law in New York State and is a registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from The George Washington University and his law degree from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, where he was selected to be the commencement student speaker.
