Daniel J. Rutnik ’80 Named Entrepreneur of the Year By Siena College

Founded Bender Lane Advisory, LLC, a multifamily wealth management company

Bender Lane Advisory, LLC founder Daniel J. Rutnik ’80 has been named the 2018 Entrepreneur of the Year by Siena College.

The award is presented annually to a Siena graduate who has excelled as an entrepreneur, positively impacted his or her community, and is driven by the entrepreneurial spirit and values of Siena.

Rutnik will accept his award at a ceremony on April 24 at the College’s Yates Gallery in the Standish Library.

“The entire Siena College community congratulates Dan Rutnik on this award,” said Br. F. Edward Coughlin, O.F.M., Ph. D., president of Siena. “His business achievements are an inspiration to Siena students and fellow alumni.”

Rutnik is the president of Bender Lane Advisory, a multifamily wealth management company with clients throughout the United States. The company was formed in 2002 and provides a range of financial services to a select group of wealthy families, as well as internal accounting and tax services to private investment partnerships. It employs a recently-expanded team of more than 25 with expertise in finance, accounting and law.

Bender Lane Advisory was honored by the Albany Business Review in 2017 with a Best Places to Work – Small Company award.  Prior to forming his own company, Rutnik was with the Ayco Company, LP from 1982 to 2002.  At the time he left Ayco, he was a senior account manager in the high net worth Family Office.

Rutnik graduated from Siena with honors with a B.A. in political science and holds a J.D. from Albany Law School.  He was a featured speaker this semester at Siena’s Stack Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

His father, George J. Rutnik, is a 1956 Siena alumnus and his youngest son, Danny, is currently a freshman.

Rutnik and his family live in Delmar.  He has been an active participant in youth sports and religious education programs in his community.
