Dance Me Hosts Master Class with Broadway’s Jackie Burns

Broadway musical theatre star, Jackie Burns, conducted a Master Class for students of Dance Me School of Dance & Character Development in Niskayuna on Saturday, January 21.  Ms. Burns, who was the longest Elphaba in Wicked on Broadway, spoke with the young participants about performing arts as a career, gave students commentary after mock dance auditions, and taught the Elphaba dance from the show.   She most recently starred in the musical If/Then, and was also featured in Hair.

Dance Me opened in 2015, and is owned and operated by Kathy Holtz, who has a background both in dance and school counseling. Classes are offered to children and adults, and include tap, ballet, jazz, Irish, hip hop, ballroom, acrobatics, Pilates, and mommy and me classes.   Dance Me focuses on creating well-rounded dancers in a caring and supportive environment. Its second location in Glenville will be opening in February.
