Crossroad Center Receives Grant from MAXIMUS Foundation

Crossroads Center for Children is proud to announce that it has been chosen to receive a grant from the MAXIMUS Foundation to support its Curricular Extension program.

Crossroads Center for Children of Schenectady is a not-for-profit school where young children with autism spectrum disorders learn and grow alongside their more typically developing peers. The mission of Crossroads is to prepare individuals with and without developmental disabilities for life success within their family and community.

Since we opened in 1998, the school has served increasing numbers of children with and without disabilities, and we have increased the scope of our programs in order to meet the needs of our community. Our goal is to ensure that all of our students learn the academic and social skills they need to be successful in their family, community and school classroom.

Although we do receive some government funding in the form of tuition payments, this money does not cover all of the costs of running a successful and effective educational program. In order to ensure that all of our young students learn the academic and social skills they need to become fully productive citizens within their homes, schools and communities we must rely on financial support from our community in the way of fundraising, donations, and grants.

“It’s an honor to provide Crossroads Center for Children with a MAXIMUS Foundation grant that will enable such a deserving organization to continue its spectacular work improving health, child and community development, and helping underserved populations in the local community,” said John Boyer, MAXIMUS Foundation Chairman. Crossroads Center for Children has earned this well-deserved grant by providing innovative solutions that empower families and individuals – values that we hold dear at the MAXIMUS Foundation. The Foundation and I send our warmest congratulations to Crossroads Center for Children.”
