County Executive to Announce ‘Empire Day’

Ahead of Albany Empire’s premier at Arena Bowl 32 at the Times Union Center, Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy will host an Albany County Summer Celebration on South Pearl Street in front of the Times Union Center this Thursday, August 8, 2019. The street will be shut down to traffic for the event from 11:30am to 1:30pm and feature music from B95.5, games courtesy of the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District and food vendors will be selling their specialties for lunch.  McCoy will announce ‘Empire Day’ to be declared on Friday, August 9 and request all members of the Capital Region to wear orange and blue colors to support the Empire ahead of ArenaBowl 32 to be played at the Times Union Center on Sunday, August 11.

Join County Executive McCoy, along with the Albany Empire, Downtown Albany BID, Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan, SMG and others for a press conference at 1pm in celebration and to highlight the many enhancements and new public safety and road improvements on South Pearl Street.

On hand for the press conference will be Albany Empire Head Coach, Rob Keefe who has a special message for the county, city, and citizens of Albany.
