Community Resource Federal Credit Union Donates Over 100 Backpacks and School Supplies to Local Children

On September 3, Community Resource Federal Credit Union employees delivered backpacks filled with school supplies to over 100 students in the Arbor Hill and Sheridan Hollow neighborhoods. The backpacks were filled with paper, notebooks, pencils, pens, crayons, folders and other necessary supplies that a child would need to begin the school year. This is the fourth year the credit union has participated in the backpack drive with Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless, providing school supplies to underprivileged children.

“The backpack drive is one of our favorite initiatives,” stated Terry Langlois, CEO for the Credit Union. “We love seeing the faces of the children as they receive all their new school supplies. We are committed to helping the communities we serve and the backpack initiative is one part of our mission of giving back.”

This year was extra special as Bryan Wilgocki, Josh Heller and Jim Benjamin, staff employees for The Albany Devils, were on hand to help distribute the backpacks. Bagged lunches were provided in part by the Credit Union, The Albany Devils and The Spotlight Newspapers. Television personality Chris Silveri also donated his time to this worthy event.

The Credit Union has a long history of supporting charitable community organizations such as Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless, The Mohawk-Hudson Humane Society and Grassroots Givers. Community Resource Community FCU is dedicated to continuing the philosophy of “People Helping People”.
