Community Resource Federal Credit Union Awarded Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award

On Monday, June 1, The New York Credit Union Association (NYCUA) announced Community Resource Federal Credit Union (CRFCU) as the winner of the 2020 Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award. Community Resource FCU is receiving the award in the $50 million – $250 million asset category. The award honors credit unions that strengthen local institutions and materially improve the lives of non-members through community outreach programs. The award will be presented to Community Resource at the 2020 NYCUA Annual Meeting on June 15, 2020.

Each year, the Dora Maxwell award recognizes a New York credit union that demonstrates a high commitment to community and social organizations. Community Resource is being recognized for its Charitable Giving to Inner City Residents, in which the credit union raises funds to support Credit Unions 4 Kids, Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless and the Capital Roots Garden Bowl program. Funds raised allow the organization to help provide hope for children experiencing life threatening illnesses; clothing, supplies and food for those less fortunate; and community gardens with healthy food access to inner city residents, respectively.

“Helping the communities we serve is a vital part of our mission. I am extremely grateful for our Board of Directors, employees and members who helped make this award possible. With their support, we are able to help hundreds within our community,” states Terry Langlois, President/CEO of Community Resource FCU . “Receiving this award reinforces that the Community Resource staff is committed to following in the footsteps of Dora Maxwell who worked on behalf of the poor. Our team has worked incredibly hard to create an employee culture that puts people first while emphasizing the importance of community service.” National winners of the Dora Maxwell competition will be announced by the Credit Union National Association later this year.
