September 26, 2019Community Foundation Welcomes New Board Members and New Board Emerita
The Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region welcomed three new board members beginning their first three-year term in September 2019. They are Christopher Cimijoitti, CPA, Eileen McLoughlin, and Robert Reynolds, Esq. The Community Foundation’s Board of Directors is representative of our community’s rich business, civic, and cultural diversity. With a demonstrated commitment to philanthropic endeavors, Board members inspire the Foundation’s success in strategic grant making, philanthropic services, and community leadership.
“The Community Foundation is stewarded by a highly engaged and committed Board of Directors,” says John Eberle, President & CEO of the Community Foundation. “We are thrilled that each of these new members offers a variety of expertise and a shared understanding of how local giving can impact the needs of the Greater Capital Region.”
In addition, the Community Foundation inducted Ellen Sax as a member of the Foundation’s Board Emeriti members. Receiving the “Emeritus” distinction is the highest honor the Community Foundation board can bestow on former members. Emeriti have demonstrated long-term dedication and support for the Community Foundation. They inspire others to action and show future board members an aspirational level of service and engagement. Emeriti serve as non-voting members of the Community Foundation board and may serve on select board committees.

Christopher Cimijotti, CPA is a Principal at Marvin and Company, P.C. and has more than 33 years of experience providing estate, trust, personal, and business planning and taxation services to a wide range of clients. Cimijotti has presented on tax issues at various client seminars and been a regular contributor to the firm’s newsletter. He has also written for the Capital District Business Review and the New York State Veterinary News and been a guest on various local radio programs. Cimijotti’s other activities in the community include serving on the Senior Services of Albany Board of Directors, serving as a member Estate Planning Council of Eastern New York, being a member American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (Tax Division), and being a member New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA). He served on NYSSCPA Northeast New York Chapter’s tax committee and was a former member Commercial Services Advisory Board at the Center for Disability Services. Cimijotti has served on the Community Foundation’s Professional Advisor Council and will serve on the Finance Committee.
Eileen G. McLoughlin brings more than 30 years of experience in finance and higher education. As Vice Chancellor for Finance and CFO for the State University of New York (SUNY), McLoughlin oversees all aspects of SUNY’s financial resources and $12 billion all-funds budget. She is also responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the financial planning for SUNY System Administration and each of its 64 campuses, working closely with the Vice Presidents for Finance and Administration at each of the colleges to establish financial plans and strategies along with sound policies and procedures. McLoughlin provides support, guidance, and training to SUNY related professional development organizations including State University Business Officers, Community College Business Officers Association, The State University of New York Human Resources Association, and State University of New York College Admissions Professionals. She is also a frequent Guest Speaker at SUNY Faculty Senate. McLoughlin volunteers for several community activities and fundraising events including serving as a Catechist for several years at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish in Schenectady, NY. McCloughin will serve on the Foundation’s Finance Committee.
Robert S. Reynolds, Esq. is a partner at Whiteman, Ostermann & Hanna LLP. He is in the Estate Planning and Administration and the Federal and State Taxation Practice Groups. Reynolds is a member of the Albany County Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association (Trusts and Estates Section, Taxation Committee, Vice Chair) and is a Fellow of The New York Bar Foundation. Reynolds is a member, former Director, and Past President (2010-2011) of the Estate Planning Council of Eastern New York, Inc. and a member of Siena College Saints Alive! Program. He is the President of the Bethlehem Basketball Club and a Director of the Bethlehem Girls Basketball Club, and has coached youth basketball, soccer and baseball. Reynolds will serve on the Foundation’s Finance Committee and Chair the Professional Advisor Council.
Ellen Sax joined MVP Health Care in February 2014 as the Director of Corporate Social Responsibility, in 2016 was promoted to Vice President and is now the Senior Leader of Community Engagement. In addition to developing and implementing MVP’s philanthropic focus, Ellen is responsible for expanding MVP’s presence in the community through charitable giving, employee engagement and partnerships with nonprofit organizations and community groups throughout MVP Health Care’s footprint. She continues to be active with many community organizations, and her community involvement has been recognized with many honors and accolades. Sax participates in a number of community endeavors including Trustee for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation Upstate Northeastern NY Chapter and board member for the B’nai B’rith Gideon Foundation, founding member and Committee Chair for the Alliance for the Creative Economy (ACE), co-chair for Ellis Medicine’s Women’s Night Out, committee member for the CCFA Evening to Remember Gala, committee member for The College of Saint Rose Community of Excellence, and WAMS Luncheon. She also serves on the Tech Valley Nonprofit Business Committee, Vale Park Task Force, Advisory Council for Albany ProMusica, and the Albany Symphony Orchestra’s Task Force on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Past service includes member of the Chamber of Schenectady County. Sax served on the board of directors from 2008-2017 and served as chair from 2014-2016 and currently serves as the Co-Chair for the Foundation’s Campaign for Impact.
