Community Allergen & Gluten Free Exposition Meets Need for Rising Diagnoses at Crossgates

The Allergen & Gluten Free Expo is a comprehensive educational experience for those who suffer from allergies, asthma, gluten sensitivities and celiac disease. Thousands of people are expected to attend the free event, located on the lower level of Crossgates in Albany. The expo is open to the public and will feature nearly 50 exhibitors, cooking demonstrations and an ability for attendees to interact with physicians with Albany Med and Saratoga Schenectady Gastroenterology. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample and purchase a range of food items and discover the newest products available to allergen families. The event is headlined by MVP Health Care.

The event is taking place on Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on the lower level of Crossgates Mall.

The expo will feature nearly 50 exhibitors with products and services geared toward the allergen & gluten free population. It will also feature the following cooking demonstrations:

  • 11 am – Chef Anand Jayapal of Swifty’s in Troy, and maker of Sydney’s gluten free sauces, will do a nut, dairy and gluten free demonstration on the Price Chopper / Market 32 Main Stage, located near Lord & Taylor.
  • 12:30 pm – Author and blogger Jodie Fitz will do an “Allergy-Friendly Family Meals” demonstration on the Price Chopper / Market 32 Main Stage, located near Lord & Taylor.
  • 2 pm – Baker Sherry Lynn of Sherry Lynn’s Gluten Free Bakery will do a child-friendly dessert demonstration on the Price Chopper / Market 32 Main Stage, located near Lord & Taylor.

The “Ask the Doctor” booth, featuring Dr. Arthur Ostrov of Saratoga Schenectady Gastroenterology, will be an additional highlight of the event. Dr. Ostrov will be available to address questions and concerns regarding celiac disease, gluten intolerance, and other gastrointestinal issues. Albany Med will also be on hand with a physician specializing in Immunology. Product samples from national brands Pamela’s, Luna Bar, Cabot Cheese, Go Veggie, and WOWButter will also be on hand.
