Colonie Senior Service Centers Opens the Doors to a New Bright Horizons Adult Day Center in the Town of Colonie

On Wednesday, November 29th the CSSC celebrated the opening of their new Bright Horizons Adult Day Center in the Town of Colonie.  The Chamber and its Ambassadors along with local elected officials, family, friends, staff and of course clients were all present to make the day very special.

Colonie Senior Service Centers’ (CSSC) Bright Horizons has been providing affordable day services for seniors and caregivers since 1983. Bright Horizons currently serves three locations in Colonie, Guilderland, and Clifton Park. Officially opening on December 1st, its newest location at 139 Troy Schenectady Road will serve the Latham and Watervliet area.

The Bright Horizons program is approximately one-third of the cost of in-home care services. It is an important source of respite care, providing programs specially tailored to adults who need supervision and assistance during the day. This program offers social activities and health care programs for adults who are frail and unable to be alone for long periods of time.

Being a part of adult day care programs allows the members to live at home while receiving the crucial required daily care that many families simply do not have the capacity to provide. Potentially, the family can avoid making the difficult decision to move their loved one to an assisted living facility if an adult day care program is in place. These services allow caregivers to have peace of mind and a deserved break from the daily struggle of meeting their family member’s needs and balancing their own responsibilities.

Members benefit from the increased socialization they receive from interacting with the other members of the program, rather than solely from their designated caregiver at home.
