Coffee for a Cause Raises Money for Hurricane Victims

Coffee sales at the Capital Region BOCES Albany campus school store resulted in a $125 donation to victims of Hurricane Florence.

After watching the destruction of the Carolinas on television and social media, the students voted last month to donate the proceeds of the coffee sales to the American Red Cross fund for victims of the hurricane.

“The students saw all of the devastation on TV and felt very strongly that they wanted to help in some way,” McDonough said.

Each month, students in the Retail & Office Services Program, who run the store, vote on a cause they want to support with the coffee sale proceeds.

“The students have total say on what cause they want to support each month,” McDonough said.

For October, the students are supporting Breast Cancer Awareness.
