A challenging economy, an aging infrastructure, the integration of new technologies and the complexity of identification and implementation of changes to the generation and delivery of electric power are critical issues that plague today’s business, technical, and political leaders on a national, state and regional level. A knowledgeable workforce is key to meeting these challenges.

Clarkson University is offering a new Business of Energy online master’s degree, which is driven by the needs of businesses and the northeastern energy industry and addresses the technical disciplines, applications and career objectives for energy industry leaders.

The new master’s degree complements an existing advanced certificate program and further develops the program.

“The recently initiated Master of Science in The Business of Energy degree program blends contemporary energy issues and related business principles to create a focused learning experience designed to increase the graduate’s competency to generate ideas, solve problems, and manage change and complexity in the challenging energy industry,” said Bob Kozik, Associate Dean of Engineering at Clarkson University’s Capital Region Campus.

In the Business of Energy program, students will learn about how the power marketplace works, the economics and finance of energy, the challenges of an aging infrastructure, the fuels of the future and more. The program curriculum is designed to provide students with the foundation to solve problems, generate new ideas, and manage complexity in the energy industry, preparing them to become leaders and decision makers.

Courses are taught by senior managers with years of experience in the energy business, delivered entirely online and focused on providing each student with the foundation needed to become a strategist and leader in the energy industry.
