May 21, 2026Children’s Museum at Saratoga Unveils “Fab Lab” Exhibit Bringing Semiconductor Manufacturing to Life
The Children’s Museum at Saratoga (CMAS) announced its newest interactive exhibit, Fab Lab, an immersive, hands-on experience that introduces visitors to semiconductor manufacturing, made possible through partnership and support from GlobalFoundries (Nasdaq: GFS) (GF). The exhibit is expected to open in July and highlights the strong role museums play in education and discovery.
Designed to spark curiosity and inspire the next generation of innovators, Fab Lab transforms the museum’s STEAM space into an interactive exploration of how semiconductors are made and why they matter. Visitors step into a world powered by microchips found in everyday technologies, from smartphones and gaming systems to cars and computers.
The exhibit guides visitors through the semiconductor manufacturing journey, showing how materials are transformed through precise, highly controlled steps into finished microchips. Hands-on activities introduce concepts such as wafer production, cleanroom environments and the importance of precision, making advanced technology accessible and engaging for young learners.
“At GF, we are committed to inspiring the next generation of innovators by helping them understand the technologies that power our world,” said Ashley Castle, community affairs lead at GF Malta. “Fab Lab brings semiconductor manufacturing to life in a way that is accessible, engaging and meaningful for young learners, and we’re proud to support an experience that connects our community to the future of technology.”
“This exhibit brings our mission to life, helping children learn through play while connecting them to real-world industries in our community that can shape their future,” said Sarah Smith, executive director of The Children’s Museum at Saratoga. “Thanks to GF, we’re able to introduce a globally significant technology in a way that is engaging for school-aged children and their families.”
