Child Recently Adopted from Foster Care Throws Ceremonial First Pitch at Amsterdam Mohawks’ Game

To highlight the continued need for foster and adoptive parents in Upstate New York, Audrianna Beck, 7, a child adopted out of foster care last month by the Beck family from Mayfield, N.Y. threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Amsterdam Mohawks versus Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs game Tuesday, June 14. As part of the game, which served as community night for both Mayfield and Northville, the Amsterdam Mohawks honored the Beck family on the field. Northern Rivers Family of Services, an Albany-based human services agency with an office in Gloversville, also had a table at this game with information on becoming a foster parent. Friday, June 17 is the Mohawks’ official Foster Care Night at the ball field. There’s currently an acute need for foster parents for children ages 1-21 in 23 New York counties. Foster parents are sought for both full- and part-time placements. There’s also a great need for foster parents for teenagers.
