Catholic Charities’ Night at the Museum Goes Virtual, will Honor Tom Roohan, The Regional Food Bank

On Thursday, June 18, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany will be hosting its eighth Night at the Museum fundraiser as a virtual event.

Each June, over 500 people gather on the 4th floor of the New York State Museum to celebrate and support the work of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany. It is the organization’s premiere fundraiser, providing vital support to Catholic Charities’ programs and services across the 14 counties of the Albany Diocese. Over the past seven years, Night at the Museum has raised over $1 million in funding for Catholic Charities’ intitiatives, from food pantries to domestic violence programs to heating assistance in the winter months.

To keep up with an increased demand for funding in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, staff at Catholic Charities are working to adapt the traditional in-person event into something that will fit in a virtual setting. The virtual event will include video, music and speakers, including emcee Kumi Tucker of Newschannel 13, Bishop Edward Scharfenberger, honorees Tom Roohan and the Northeast Regional Food Bank’s Mark Quandt.

Guests of the event can register online at www.ccrcda.org/nam or by calling 518-641-6831. All guests will have the option of picking up a to-go dinner catered by Mazzone Hospitality at no extra cost. Guests will then receive information via email on how to join the online event prior to the June 18th date. Individuals can also purchase a bottle of wine from the Night at the Museum wine pull. The wine pull will also benefit Catholic Charities’ programs and services.

This year, Catholic Charities will be honoring Tom Roohan, of Roohan Realty, and the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York. Mr. Roohan is a longtime supporter of Catholic Charities in Saratoga, Warren and Washington Counties, and was instrumental in the establishment of Mary’s Haven, a community home for the dying locating in Saratoga Springs, NY. The Food Bank is a longtime partner of Catholic Charities, providing food items to Catholic Charities nutritional programs, including its pantries. Most recently, the Food Bank has partnered with Catholic Charities to provide food for CC MOVE mass food distributions across the Diocese. Together, the organizations have provided more than 200 tons of food to families in need.
