Catherine Hedgeman Appointed to the Town of Bethlehem Industrial Development Agency Board

Catherine M. Hedgeman, Esq. has been appointed to fill a vacant seat on the Bethlehem Industrial Development Agency Board, effective immediately. Her appointment was unanimously approved by the Bethlehem Town Board on Wednesday. Hedgeman is the principal attorney of the Law Office of Catherine M. Hedgeman, a locally renowned woman-owned comprehensive law firm in Albany. Specializing in nonprofit and public authorities law, real estate, land use/development & zoning, commercial law, corporate law and government relations, Hedgeman has played an active role in local business development for more the 15 years.

In 2004, Hedgeman founded GenNEXT, a business council of the Albany-Colonie Chamber of Commerce focused on providing meaningful networking and business opportunities for young professionals. She also founded The Stakeholders in 2007, empowering people to stake their claim in the future of their community.

“I am honored to have the Town of Bethlehem place its faith in me with the appointment to this board. I accept this appointment with the understanding that businesses are being challenged as they never have before,” said Hedgeman. “I am eager to begin work with my fellow board members and create a path toward the long-term health of the Town’s industrial and business communities.”

Hedgeman has served on a number of civic and nonprofit boards of directors over the past ten years. These include the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District Public Relations Committee, the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Center for Economic Growth, the Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region and the Tech Valley Civic Forum.

The Industrial Development Agency (IDA) provides financial assistance to eligible commercial and industrial projects in order to promote economic welfare and prosperity for the residents of the Town of Bethlehem. The IDA is responsible for the promotion, attraction and development of job and recreational opportunities and economically sound commerce within the Town’s borders.
