Capital Roots Raises a Record-breaking $80,000 at 29th Annual Spring Brunch

On May 1, at the Empire State Plaza Convention Hall, Capital Roots, raised $80,000 at their 29th Annual Spring Brunch. The event included a buffet style brunch with nearly 125 buffet items, a silent auction, an airline ticket raffle, and children’s activities. Proceeds benefit Capital Roots’ programs including 51 Community Gardens, the Veggie Mobile®, the Produce Project, Healthy Stores, Squash Hunger and more.

Capital Roots hosted 600 guests including Congressman Paul Tonko, Rensselaer County Executive Kathy Jimino, Troy City Mayor Patrick Madden, Assemblyman John McDonald, and Senator Neil Breslin. More than 100 volunteers assisted with the event and 400 local businesses donated food, flowers, beverages and auction items.
