Capital Roots Raises $93,000 at Spring Brunch

On May 5th at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center, Capital Roots raised more than $93,000 at their 32nd Annual Spring Brunch. The event included a buffet brunch featuring culinary fare prepared by 125 restaurants, a silent auction with hundreds of items, a breakfast station provided by Rivers Casino & Resort and children’s activities. Proceeds benefit Capital Roots’ programs, including 54 Community Gardens, the Veggie Mobile®, the Produce Project, Healthy Stores, Squash Hunger and more.

Capital Roots hosted hundreds of guests joined by Congressman Paul Tonko, Senator Neil Breslin, Assemblymembers John McDonald and Patricia Fahey. More than 60 volunteers assisted with the event and 300 local businesses donated food, flowers, beverages and auction items.

“The Spring Brunch represents more than just a meal,” says Capital Roots’ Chief Executive Officer Amy Klein. “It is a huge collaborative effort. All of the donated food, beverages, auction items, flowers and helping hands truly showcase how a community can come together.”
