Capital Roots Raises $91,000 at 31st Annual Spring Brunch

Community Event Continues to Grow

On May 6 at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center, Capital Roots raised $91,000 at their 31st Annual Spring Brunch. The event included a buffet brunch featuring culinary fare prepared by 125 restaurants, a silent auction with hundreds of items, a pancake station provided by Rivers Casino & Resort and children’s activities. Proceeds benefit Capital Roots’ programs, including 52 Community Gardens, the Veggie Mobile®, the Produce Project, Healthy Stores, Squash Hunger and more.

Capital Roots hosted more than 600 guests including Congressman Paul Tonko, Troy City Mayor Patrick Madden, Senator Neil Breslin and Congressman Michael McNulty. More than 60 volunteers assisted with the event and 270 local businesses donated food, flowers, beverages and auction items.

“One of the most unique things about the Spring Brunch is that it’s truly a community event,” said Amy Klein, Capital Roots’ Chief Executive Officer. “This annual event allows individuals from all over the Capital Region to come together, enjoy a meal and most importantly, time with each other while we celebrate the season.”
