Capital Region BOCES: Drilling in the Holiday Bulbs

Jacob Therrien of Mohonasen, a student in the Capital Region BOCES Carpentry Services Program, uses a drill to affix an ornament to his Christmas tree during a recent class on the Albany Career and Technical School class.

Therrien is one of 17 students in the program that prepares students for entry-level positions in the lucrative construction, carpentry and building maintenance industries.

Therrien said he “chose this program because I like making things out of wood and making people happy with what I create.”

Carpentry Services is one of about two-dozen programs Capital Region BOCES offers high school students to prepare them for careers ranging from carpenters to engineers, nurses and chefs.
