The Capital District YMCA Promotes John Lefner to District Executive Director of the Schenectady YMCA and Camp Chingachgook on Lake George

The Capital District YMCA has promoted John Lefner to District Executive Director of the Schenectady branch and Camp Chingachgook, its regional outdoor education experience and resident camp located on the shores of Lake George.

In his new role, John will be chiefly responsible for successfully managing the day-to-day operations of both Camp Chingachgook and the Schenectady branch, including forming strategic partnerships with key business, civic, and social leaders, and growing the number of children, adults and families served by the Y.

John has been leading our efforts at Camp Chingachgook as Executive Director since 2014. Prior to joining the Y, John was Director of Operations at the Saratoga Independent School, and Assistant Director of Operations at the Double H Ranch. John’s YMCA experience includes the YMCAs of Greater Providence, North Central Florida and Central Florida, where he served as Program Director and Camp Director.

“John has done an excellent job of helping grow Camp Chingachgook, and I have every confidence he’ll apply that same winning strategy to our Schenectady branch,” noted Capital District YMCA President and CEO David Brown.

“I am looking forward to strengthening the service and community connectivity in Schenectady while continuing to shape the future of Camp Chingachgook. Both Schenectady and Chingachgook will receive everything I have to offer, and I am inspired by the dedicated members, campers, volunteers, staff and donors who make our YMCA strong.”

John begins his new role Monday, February 12, 2018. Please join me in congratulating John.
