CAP COM Launches Annual Big Benefit Raffle to Raise Funds for the Food Pantries for the Capital District

CAP COM Federal Credit Union and its charitable giving arm, the CAP COM Cares Foundation, have announced the launch of the 2021 BIG Benefit Raffle. Once a year, the credit union runs a two-month campaign offering a chance to win up to $10,000. Tickets, priced at $25 each, can be purchased by anyone. This year’s raffle will run through September 3 or when tickets sell out. A maximum of 5,000 raffle tickets will be sold.

The BIG Benefit Raffle will raise a grand total of $125,000 and the funds are distributed in three ways. $26,000 will be awarded to nine ticket winners for cash prizes between $1,000 and $10,000; $10,000 will go to this year’s beneficiary, The Food Pantries for the Capital District; and the remaining $89,000 will be distributed year-round to CAP COM Cares Foundation’s local non-profit partners.

“We are thrilled to launch this year’s annual BIG Benefit Raffle in support of The Food Pantries for the Capital District, and our Foundation partners,” said Chris McKenna, President and CEO, CAP COM. “Our local pantries felt a strain in the past 15 months of the Covid-19 pandemic as food insecurity in our region reached unprecedented levels. Providing $10,000 to the Food Pantries for the Capital District will help ensure their shelves remain stocked and those who are less fortunate have food on their plates.”

In addition to the raffle fundraiser, CAP COM is also running a hygiene drive in each branch to help The Food Pantries receive hygiene and cleaning products that they typically do not receive. All other funds raised through BBR will go towards supporting our other signature programs as well as more than 100 community partners.

The cash prize drawing will be held September 15. The BIG Benefit Raffle is one of two large CAP COM Cares fundraisers held annually to support community outreach efforts.
