CAP COM Employees Adopt 200 Seniors in Holiday Partnership with Colonie Senior Service Centers

csscCAP COM Federal Credit Union and its charitable giving arm, the CAP COM Cares Foundation, will partner with Colonie Senior Service Centers (CSSC) to adopt 200 senior “angels” through CAP COM’s Holiday Adopt-an-Angel program.

The collaborative program provides gifts to seniors who are part of CSSC’s Umbrella of Colonie. Umbrella provides 24/7 assurance to its members, complete with handymen services to fix even the smallest repairs. For larger jobs, Umbrella offers discounts to local contractors to make home-repairs affordable for seniors, many of whom struggle with heating and electric bills throughout the winter months. The members of Umbrella of Colonie that were selected for this program may struggle to afford heating bills, medications, and even groceries this time of the year.

Once CAP COM’s Adopt-an-Angel giving tree was unveiled, staff members quickly stripped every one of the 200 angel ornaments from it, each ornament containing the wish list of one senior. CAP COM employees purchased and wrapped their gifts. More Foundation volunteers will deliver the gifts door-to-door.

“The gift of giving is alive at CAP COM, especially when it involves our Adopt-an-Angel program. We are proud to have neighbors like Colonie Senior Service Centers that partner with us to share smiles and the warmth of the holiday season,” said Paula A. Stopera, President/CEO, CAP COM.

“The generosity shown by CAP COM’s volunteers and staff will make a tremendous impact on the families receiving gifts this holiday season. The Holiday Adopt-an-Angel program is just one example of how CAP COM partners with organizations in the Capital Region and so generously gives back to the community we all serve,” said Edward Neary, Executive Director, CSSC.

CAP COM Federal Credit Union and Colonie Senior Service Centers’ staff gather to collect gifts in preparation for delivery to seniors in the Capital Region this coming Saturday, December 10.
