Call to Action: Paid Sick Leave

The Albany County Legislature is holding a public hearing on Tuesday, October 23rd, regarding their Paid Sick Leave proposal, which would require employers (for-profit and non-profit) to provide paid sick leave to their employees. This proposal would cover employees that are employed within Albany County for more than 80 hours in a calendar year who perform work on a full-time or part-time basis. The Chamber is strongly opposed to this flawed and costly proposal. If enacted, it will be an administrative and financial burden to employers, taxpayers, Albany County and it will hurt Albany’s business climate. To be clear, the Chamber is not opposed to paid sick leave. We are opposed to government mandated paid sick leave. Employee benefits, including paid sick leave, should be determined by the employer and not through government mandates.

Please help us fight this costly government mandate by attending and speaking at the public hearing. Because of you our voice is strong.
