Broadview to “Stuff the Trucks” with Winter Coats – 11/30 @ 10 a.m.

Toys for Tots train where they will be distributed to children in need from Schenectady to Binghamton.

Broadview and Toys for Tots volunteers will “stuff the trucks” full of more than 500 coats this Thursday, November 30 at 10 a.m. in front of Lodge’s Department Store located at 74 North Pearl St. in Albany.

The coats will be distributed along with toys by the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Train, which is resuming its operations and spreading holiday cheer throughout the regions on Saturday, December 2. The train will make stops in Delanson, Cobleskill, Oneonta, Bainbridge, and Binghamton.

“Our main mission each holiday season is to distribute toys to local children in need to provide them with a gift to unwrap, but also hope for the future. Through our outreach we discovered another need amongst these children, as many of them weren’t prepared with jackets for the cold winter months. Every year there has been this need we strive to fulfill. Without the continued support of Broadview, many local children would not have a coat for the winter season,” said Capital Region Toys for Tots US Marine Coordinator Patrick Lurenz.

“Because of Broadview, hundreds of children will be wrapped up in warmth this winter.”

Contributions from Broadview and Albany’s oldest department store, Lodge’s, will give children across the Capital Region and Southern Tier warm coats for the winter months and remind them that there are people in their community who care and can help.

“We are in the midst of the holiday season, which is a wonderful time to share joy with family, friends, and our community, especially to those who need our help and support the most,” said Broadview CEO Michael Castellana. “I am once again impressed by the generosity and commitment of the Toys for Tots Train organizers, Lodge’s, and of course, the Broadview team who have come together to provide coats, toys, and holiday cheer to children and families in our region. The winter coats will certainly keep the children cozy, but this collaborative community effort will warm the hearts of everyone involved, and that’s the greatest gift of all.”

Broadview CEO Michael Castellana and representatives from Toys for Tots and Lodge’s will be available for interviews during and after the event.
