Bring Your Friends and Family to Run or Walk with Breast Cancer Survivors and Thrivers

To Life!’s 2nd annual family-friendly 5K run/walk, I Pink I Can, will be held along the Mohawk Harbor in Schenectady on Sunday, October 4th. This event brings together competitive runners, casual walkers, and passionate supporters in a vibrant celebration of strength, survivorship, and breast cancer awareness. Registration will open at 8:00 am with the race starting at 9:00 am. People not interested in running or walking are welcome to come cheer on the participants, enjoy the festivities, and show their support for this important cause.

The focus of the event is celebrating the resilience and determination of the many individuals in our community who have been impacted by breast cancer while supporting To Life!’s ongoing mission to provide support, education, and necessary resources to everyone in our community who needs them, regardless of financial situation.

Molly Renaud, Director of Community Engagement at the Times Union shared: “As a breast cancer survivor, I know firsthand the lifesaving importance of regular screenings and early detection. Prioritizing nutrition and physical activity during and after treatment can sometimes feel overwhelming. To Life!’s ‘I Pink I Can!’ is a powerful reminder that, no matter the obstacles, we can continue moving forward together—with strength, hope, and purpose.”

To Life! was founded in 1998 to provide education and support to everyone impacted by breast cancer in the Greater Capital Region. In the last 28 years, the organization has grown to include wig and mastectomy boutiques in Albany, Amsterdam, Delmar, and Saratoga Springs as well as 8 monthly support groups, peer mentoring, annual health conferences, breast health workshops, and ongoing social and wellness programming. Annual thriver retreats and a monthly Mahjong group are new additions to their programming. The organization serves a ten-county region including: Albany, Columbia, Fulton, Greene, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Warren, and Washington. The main office is located at 410 Kenwood Avenue in Delmar, NY. In 2025, To Life! served about 3200 people, an increase of over 20% over the last 5 years.

“This event is a true celebration of our community-their strength and resilience-and creates an opportunity for kids to be involved and walk side-by-side with their neighbors, friends, and family who have been impacted by breast cancer.” said Allison M. Burton-Chase, PhD, To Life!’s Executive Director.

This year’s I Pink I Can event will feature local vendors, food trucks, and family-friendly activities. Complementary beverages are provided for each runner courtesy of Druthers Brewery. Registration is $40 and kids are free.
