BOCES Students Earn Adobe Professional Certifications

Seven Capital Region BOCES Digital Media Design students recently earned professional Adobe Certifications that have built their skills and their resumes, making them more employable upon graduation from the program or, if they pursue it, college.

The students earned certification in  as an Adobe Certified Professional in Visual Design Using Adobe Photoshop, Graphic Design & Illustration or Graphic Design & Illustration and/or Print & Digital Media Publication.

Earning the professional certifications were:

  • Evan Agan, from Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk (RCS), Visual Design using Adobe Photoshop 2022 and Graphic Design & Illustration using Adobe Illustrator 2022
  • Emily Burdikoff, from Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake CSD, Print & Digital Media Publication using Adobe InDesign 2023
  • Deegan Donivan, RCS, Visual Design using Adobe Photoshop 2022
  • Maxwell Bryant, Duanesburg, Visual Design using Adobe Photoshop 2022
  • Austin Chmielewski, RCS, Visual Design using Adobe Photoshop 2022
  • Sadie Plant, Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Visual Design using Adobe Photoshop 2022
  • Nicole Forbes, Duanesburg, Visual Design using Adobe Photoshop 2022

To earn the Adobe certification a person must demonstrate professional-level skills and expertise.

“Adobe certification signifies an expertise that colleges often award credits for and is used on resumes to get jobs,” said teacher Barb Gorbaty.

Forbes said she is proud of the recognition.

“I worked really hard to get the skills necessary for the certification so it’s satisfying to have earned it,” the Duanesburg teenager said. “I want to go into design, so this professional certification will help me along the way.”

Adobe certifications are some of the dozens of certifications Capital Region BOCES students can earn in their various programs. The certifications give them an advantage in the workforce and allow them to advance up the career stepladder quicker than peers who do not attend BOCES.
