BlueShield CEO Promotes Kirk Panneton, MD to Officer Position

PannetonCiting recent membership growth and a commitment to the market, BlueShield of Northeastern New York President and CEO Dave Anderson today announced the promotion of Kirk R. Panneton, M.D. to the position of Vice President, Regional Executive and Medical Director.

“Kirk has brought stable leadership and represents our company’s focus on high quality health care and great customer service,” said Anderson. “Kirk’s promotion and expanded role are well deserved.”

In addition to assuming corporate officer responsibilities, Dr. Panneton serves as BlueShield’s primary market representative in the Capital Region and is responsible for ensuring BlueShield members receive high-quality, cost-effective and appropriate health care. He had been serving as Regional Executive and Medical Director since 2014.

Prior to joining BlueShield, Dr. Panneton most recently served as Medical Director of Senior Services at CDPHP. Additionally, he served as Vice President of Medical Affairs and Medical Director at St. Clare’s Hospital and as Vice President of Medical Affairs for Northeast Health after spending almost 20 years in private practice of internal medicine.

Dr. Panneton graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in the history of science from Harvard University, earned his medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Albany Medical Center.

He serves on the board of directors for Hixny and is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Internal Medicine and the Schenectady County Medical Society.
