Bikes N’ Motion Ribbon Cutting

The Capital Region Chamber was excited to attend the ribbon cutting for Bikes N’ Motion, the bicycle-based delivery service owned by Darlene McGraw. A Halfmoon resident, Darlene will be delivering meals from local establishments such as MochaLisa’s Caffé in Clifton Park and Boutique & Coffee Made Simple in Halfmoon, and many more!

Darlene is an advocate for those who find their mobility impaired by physical or economic conditions. She spoke at the ribbon cutting of the economic line that people in disadvantaged communities struggle with, one that is hard to overcome thanks to societal and government-imposed bureaucracies that tend to keep people in those conditions, in her opinion. Senator Jim Tedisco shared his thoughts on the struggles that those in poor communities undergo in order to get ahead. Darlene is an example to follow in that regard, of a person who has worked against all odds to better not only herself but her community. Halfmoon Town Supervisor Kevin Tollisen was there in support along with Julia Haig representing Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh, and both likewise shared their good wishes for Darlene and her new business.

Getting around in the Capital Region can be a real challenge for some people. Mass transit and even Uber can be sparse or nonexistent depending on the location, and for non-drivers its nearly impossible to get around. Halfmoon entrepreneur Darlene McGraw didn’t let that get her down. You’ve seen her on her big tricycle, riding around town on her way to work, the store, area businesses or public meetings, seemingly everywhere. Darlene is an activist who isn’t afraid to speak her mind, especially about transportation and mobility issues, and she often drives politicians crazy in the process. But hers is a heartfelt perspective of one who has endured many treatments for serious physical ailments that would have rendered most people confined to home care.  Instead, Darlene pedals her way around the region, assisted by a battery powered boost system.

Darlene is a full-fledged Capital Region Chamber member now, having opened a small business delivery service called Bikes N’ Motion, which delivers meals to customers so they don’t have to go out from home or their place of business.  Bikes N’ Motion also participates in the F.A.V.O.R. program by offering discounts to veterans who utilize her services.
