Big Bang Gala and Preview of the Exhibit Be the Astronaut

WHERE: 15 Museum Drive, Schenectady, NY

WHEN: May 6, 6 to 9 p.m.

The Museum of Innovation and Science (miSci) will host its annual Big Bang Gala based on the theme Summer of ’69, a nod to the new exhibit Be the Astronaut that opens to the public May 7 and explores the challenges and excitement of spaceflight.

Doors to the Gala will open at 6 p.m. with a cocktail hour and Silent Auction.

Following cocktails, dinner will be served by local purveyors of mobile cuisine. Entertainment will be provided by The Carla Page Traveling Show Band and libations by Frog Alley Brewing.

A ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of Be the Astronaut and new Jane Golub Gallery, named in honor of longtime Museum Trustee Jane Golub, will take place at 6:15 p.m. Speakers at the ceremony will include Jane Golub’s husband Neil Golub, daughter Mona Golub, and miSci President Gina Gould.

The Gala’s fundraising efforts support educational programs and other services provided by the Museum. This includes the Jane Golub STEM Fund that contributes funding to Capital Region schools for programs and Break Week Classes; Museums for All that provides underserved Capital Region families with free memberships to miSci; SenseAble Science, an upcoming program that will present STEAM experiences for neurodiverse individuals; and the Museum’s Exhibitions Program.
