Better Neighborhoods Foster Avenue Ribbon Cutting

Better Neighborhoods, Inc., a nonprofit housing organization founded in 1966 to create and preserve affordable housing for residents of the City of Schenectady, welcomed a first-time homebuyer to their new home on Monday, June 5th at 1922 Foster Avenue in Schenectady.  The staff and Board of Directors Better Neighborhoods were joined by the homebuyer, Arnold, and their many supporters, including the Chamber of Commerce, Community Loan Fund, Habitat for Humanity, and Capital Region Land Bank.  NYS Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara sent Better Neighborhoods a Certificate of Merit to commemorate this project, and NYS Senator James Tedisco sent both Better Neighborhoods and the homebuyer, Arnold, a NYS Senate Citation.

Arnold is full of gratitude for Better Neighborhoods and the staff at SEFCU that has helped with the homebuying process, giving him the ability to create new memories with his sons and grandchild.  When asked to give a word of advice to a future homebuyer Arnold said, “You must discipline yourself, create a solid budget and stick to what’s affordable for you.”

Better Neighborhoods and our partners were thrilled to celebrate the completion of this project and welcome Arnold to his new home!
