Ballston Spa National Bank Reopens Original Front Street Home Office After Completing Historic Rehabilitation

After a year-long restoration of one of Ballston Spa’s most recognizable historic buildings, Ballston Spa National Bank (BSNB) will reopen its original Front Street headquarters to the public with a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony on Friday, April 24th at 10:00 a.m. – offering the community a fresh look inside the newly-restored space.

“Many generations of customers have walked through these doors,” said BSNB’s President and CEO, Christopher Dowd. “Our intent was to honor the rich history of this building and to ensure that it meets the needs of today’s customers. Today, I am proud to say we have accomplished that goal.”

The building, which first served as a private residence in 1824, has been a long-standing landmark serving customers and businesses in the Village of Ballston Spa for more than 188 years. The rehabilitation project focused on upgrading the branch’s interior while preserving the building’s historic elements. The updated full-service branch includes a new ATM and Drive-Thru, modernized banking technology, restored architectural details, accessibility improvements, and a refreshed design that reflects the way people bank today. The bank’s board of directors and executive leadership committed to preserving BSNB’s historic presence to ensure that this cornerstone building remains a landmark and vital hub in the downtown district for years to come.

The project was made possible through partnerships with Landmark Consulting LLC, Historic Preservation and Architectural Services, hcp architects, and BBL Construction Services. During the project, the bank also received approval from the National Register of Historic Places and New York State Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit Program under the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP).

The branch is now open to the public with full banking services available throughout the grand reopening celebration. Community members, local and state officials, and bank leadership will be in attendance. Media are invited to capture the ribbon cutting, tour the restored space, and view historic artifacts uncovered during the renovation.
