Ballston Spa National Bank Employees to Support the American Red Cross in their First Annual Bank Wide Community Support Day

On Tuesday, May 9th, all employees from Ballston Spa National Bank (BSNB) will be participating in their first annual bank-wide community support event where they will be teaming up with the American Red Cross to volunteer with their Home Fire Campaign. During this event, more than 110 employees will be working in predetermined communities in Ballston Spa offering to install smoke alarms in homes that do not have a working alarm. On this date, all BSNB locations will close early at 12 p.m. to give all employees the opportunity to support this important initiative.

Home fires impact hundreds of families each year.  On average 7 people die every day from a home fire, while 36 people suffer injuries as a result of home fires every day. The Red Cross has set a goal to reduce fire-related deaths and injuries in the US by 25% by 2020.  “BSNB is proud to support this life-saving endeavor,” said President and CEO Chris Dowd.  “Through meaningful volunteer initiatives such as the Home Fire Campaign, and targeted financial support, we believe we can make a lasting difference in the communities we serve.”

Experts suggest that residents may have as little as two minutes to escape a burning home, while working smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in a fire in half. In an effort to reduce the number of fire-related deaths and injuries that occur each year, the Red Cross is committed to providing lifesaving tools and resources that support fire prevention and preparedness in local communities.
