Ballston Spa National Bank Announces Successful Regional Food Bank Campaign

Ballston Spa National Bank (BSNB), in conjunction with the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York hosted four contactless drive-thru food pantry events in May and June. The Bank asked for community members to also show support by making monetary donations to the Food Bank, which would be matched by the Bank.

In total, 72,000 pounds of food were distributed within the communities of Voorheesville, Ballston Spa, Milton, and Wilton. BSNB ran two matching campaigns in May and June raising a total of $4,473 from the community. The Bank went even further and matched a total of $10,000 through the campaign. Knowing how hard the Food Bank works to support families in need, the Bank donated an extra $10,000, for a total of $20,000 to the Food Bank over the course of May and June. None of this would be possible without the ongoing efforts of the Food Bank and the employee volunteers from BSNB who took time out of their day to help others.

“We have always placed a high priority on supporting our communities,” said Christopher R. Dowd, BSNB president and CEO. “As a team, we feel great about volunteering for an organization that’s making a difference during challenging times and appreciate all of the community members who have joined with us. Together, we’re hopeful that our financial contributions will continue to provide support to those in need.”

As the state is nearing full reopening, it is important to note that the efforts of the Regional Food Bank have never stopped, paused, or even slowed down. They have needed to increase their efforts by more than 55%, providing 17.84 million pounds of food for thousands of people in need since March–many of whom are taking advantage of the service for the first time in their lives. Each drive-thru event distributed 18,000 pounds of food, totaling 60,000 meals for those struggling during the effects of COVID-19. Food items included fresh produce, dairy, frozen meats and non-perishable food items.

BSNB has provided support on many levels. From volunteers hosting food distribution efforts to fundraising and corporate financial support, it all goes a long way in helping us help others during this time.”
