June 3, 2022Apartment Professionals Trade Society of New York (APTS of NY) Launches to Serve Upstate New York Housing Industry
Today, Apartment Professionals Trade Society of New York (APTS of NY) announced their official launch following a rebrand of the New York Capital Region Apartment Association (NYCRAA) and Under One Roof. Representing more than 45,000 units across Upstate New York, APTS of NY was formed to unite the housing community across New York through leadership, advocacy, education and networking. Replacing the former New York Capital Region Apartment Association (NYCRAA) and its advocacy arm Under One Roof, the APTS of NY rebrand follows a change in the group’s leadership, large territory expansion and renewed commitment to protect both residents and property owners. APTS of NY is the Upstate New York affiliate chapter of the National Apartment Association, covering the entire State of New York except Rockland County, Westchester County, New York City and Long Island.

APTS of NY serves as the leading voice for the industry and the housing community’s foremost informational resource. The industry has changed dramatically over the past few years, making it harder to own and manage properties, ultimately causing some to exit the industry. APTS of NY strives to reverse that trend by keeping owners local, keeping them informed and ensuring legislation is fair to tenants and owners. Their website is a universal destination for members to access education, advocacy and networking benefits in the housing industry.

We have grown tremendously and with the changing landscape, our members need a robust resource for up-to-date information, continuing education and networking opportunities. APTS of NY will be the leading advocacy voice of the Upstate New York housing community as we navigate forward,” said Kara Rafferty, President of the Board, Apartment Professionals Trade Society of New York (APTS of NY).

APTS of NY supports my business, and businesses like mine, by not only providing information and educational resources, but connecting me to other businesses and vendors in the community. For an industry that at many times can feel overwhelming, APTS of NY serves as a reliable guiding light,” said Annemarie Agnew, ARM® Property Manager at The Lofts at Saratoga BLVD.
“I take on hundreds of rental units for local property owners in Upstate New York and help them manage the day-to-day operations. It is how I make a living and keep a roof over my head. Having access to important resources helps me navigate this dynamic industry and provide safe housing for tenants on behalf of owners. Those resources make it possible to feel confident in staying in the housing industry in New York,” said Ryan Vienneau, Veno Properties.
Membership is made up of owners, developers, property management companies, and industry suppliers.
APTS of NY provides education and informational resources to housing owners that enable them to provide a safe home for residents in line with current guidelines. Additionally, residents can access tenants’ rights information and a detailed resource guide here.
