Annual Memorial Golf Tournament to Benefit The Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York

The Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York will host the 8th Annual Jake Straughter Memorial Golf Tournament for Epilepsy on Monday, September 26th at Wolferts Roost Country Club and Shaker Ridge Country Club. Registration opens at 10:30a.m. followed by  lunch at 11a.m. The tournament kicks off with a shotgun start at noon and ends with an Awards Reception at 6 p.m. at Wolferts Roost Country Club. The tournament is named for Jake Straughter, who passed away at age four. Jake sustained a health-altering seizure as an infant. The tournament is held annually to honor his memory, raise awareness about epilepsy and generate much-needed funding for local services and programs.

Jeff Klauk, a professional golfer who played on both the PGA and Web.com tours, will join the event at Shaker Ridge. Epilepsy interrupted Mr. Klauk’s PGA career in 2012. After undergoing brain surgery and several additional procedures, he is now focused on controlling his epilepsy, maintaining his health and his work with a charitable organization that coordinates fundraising golf tournaments across the country. Mr. Klauk will teach a putting clinic and speak at the awards reception. Featured at Shaker Ridge will be the 2012 RE/MAX World Long Drive Champion, Eric Lastowka. He will also teach a clinic and attend the awards reception.

The Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York is honored to welcome Awards Reception emcee John Gray, News10 ABC news anchor and popular columnist. The evening will also include a live auction featuring a Masters flag autographed by Jordan Spieth and a flag autographed by golf legend Arnold Palmer.  Special thanks to our returning Event Sponsor, Turf Hotels, and other top sponsors SYSCO Albany, University at Albany Foundation, Gilbane Building Company, UCB, Inc., Comalli Electric, Norvest Financial Services, the Times Union, TALK 1300 and WVCR 88.3 The Saint.
