October 17, 2018Announcing The Winners Of The Inaugural Special Effects Makeup Competition
The Makeup Curio celebrated their one year anniversary by hosting the region’s only Special Effects Makeup Competition at Proctors Theater Underground. The theme of the day: Creatures Of The Underground.
Student Competitors, ages 12-17, included Caitlin Van Loan, Bella Marte, Isabella Dupont, Emma Folmsbee, and Erin Stickney. Taking First Place was Isabella Dupont of East Greenbush, Second Place was Erin Stickney of Norwood NY, and Third Place was Caitlin Van Loan of Catskill NY. Judges of the student competition were Michael Gatzendorfer, Jeffrey P. Hocking, and Amy Freinburg-Trufas.
Adult Competitors, ages 18 and over, included Kyla Schmidt, Paige Paddock, John MacDonald aka Noelle Diamond, Kathleen Schantz, Michelle Margiotta, Skye Fowler-Eggleston, and Twilisha McClellend of The Face Gawdess. Taking First place was Paige Paddock of Schenectady, Second Place was Michelle Margiotta of Rotterdam and Third Place was Kyla Schmidt of Troy. Judges of the adult competition were Jared Balog, Lisa Wood and Richard Lovrich.
Over $1000 in prizes were awarded, with the majority of them sponsored by Graftobian Makeup Company, a brand offered in the The Makeup Curio boutique.
