April 28, 2016American Diabetes Association Names Decelle Market Director
The American Diabetes Association today announced that Nicole DeCelle has been named market director for both Albany and Central New York.
In her new role, DeCelle will oversee development staffs in both markets charged with raising more than $2.5 million annually through various programs and fundraising events, including the Tour de Cure, the premier cycling event dedicated to finding a cure for diabetes. The signature event, which is held in 40 states nationwide, includes the second largest ride in the country held in Saratoga Springs (6/5). She will also oversee rides in Verona Beach State Park (6/12) and Watkins Glen (8/20).
“We are thrilled to have Nicole lead our organization in these two important upstate markets,” said Peter Knappen, area director of Upstate NY, American Diabetes Association. “Her fundraising and development expertise will be critical to helping us fulfill our mission of preventing and curing diabetes and improving the lives of all people affected by the disease.”
DeCelle comes to the position from a nine-year tenure with Albany Medical Center Foundation, where she most recently served as director of stewardship and donor relations. Before that, she held the positon of associate director of signature events, where she organized high profile, large-scale fundraising events, as well as served as assistant director of annual programs. She began her career as events and program manager at the Capital Region Chamber.

As someone diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 20, the impact of the ADA is of vital importance, and I am honored to be a part of this mission and make a difference in the lives of those impacted by this devastating disease.”
DeCelle lives in Colonie, N.Y. with her husband Nick and daughter Avery.
