Alliance for the Creative Economy Announces Multi-County Business Roundtable Tour and New Partnership with the Center for Economic Growth

The Alliance for the Creative Economy (ACE) today announced a month-long and region-wide business roundtable tour in partnership with the Center for Economic Growth.

The six-stop regional tour will highlight new data showing the economic contributions from the creative industries, one of the largest and most dynamic employment sectors in New York’s Capital Region.

“Fostering an environment where creative businesses and professionals can grow and thrive is a critical piece of Upstate’s economic revitalization,” said Maureen Sager, Project Director of ACE. “We are excited to partner with CEG and work together to highlight our world-class creative cluster and attract new, exciting businesses to New York.”

“Innovation is what drives our economy and what has made the Capital Region a global leader for high technology research and development,” said Andrew Kennedy, CEG President and CEO. “However, the region does more than just excel at creating advanced technologies for GLOBALFOUNDRIES, Angiodynamics, Regeneron and others. Our thriving creative economy creates the unique foods, beverages, crafts, video games, art and other goods that foster a high quality of life while making the region more attractive to those companies and others like them.”

“The continuing evolution of ACE showcases the collaborative spirit across the greater Capital Region, from freelancers to nonprofits to for-profit businesses,” said Ellen Sax, ACE steering committee chair and vice president of community engagement, MVP Health Care. “These roundtables are part of an ongoing effort to engage more stakeholders and help build the economic engine of the creative sector.”

The roundtables will feature private meetings with business and cultural leaders from 3-5 p.m. and public roundtable discussion from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Participants will be presented with recent creative economy employment data, and will participate in discussions on sector growth and regional identity.
