All Invited to CROP Walk 2016

The Schenectady CROP Hunger Walk will be held on May 1. The CROP Walk 2015 was a celebration with 400+ people involved! Schenectady Inner City Ministry joined together in common cause to fight hunger both here and overseas. With some new groups involved we raised over $48,000! This year’s walk celebrates the 36th Anniversary of CROP Walks in our community.

The 2016 CROP Walk is scheduled for Sunday, May 1. The location of the walk is Emmanuel Friedens Church, 218 Nott Terrace. The walk kicks off at 1:30 p.m. with registration prior starting at 12:30 p.m.

All are welcome to the Recruiters’ Workshop on Tuesday, March 15, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist/Friedens UCC Church, 218 Nott Terrace, Schenectady. Details about this year’s event, registration and promotional materials, curriculum materials for schools and teachers, and worship resources will be available. This workshop is designed for those who engage others in their congregations, groups, etc.; they are the contact people. A light supper will be provided before the program begins at 6 p.m.

CROP Walks are community events to raise awareness and provide direct assistance to fight hunger locally and overseas. Locally, the CROP Walk in 2015 supported local food pantries, senior meals, and the Community Crisis Network. Overseas, funds go for disaster aid, aid to refugees, and self-help development; for details check www.cwsglobal.org.
