Albany Pro Musica presents The High School Choral Festival

Albany Pro Musica continues its 37th Season with their annual High School Choral Festival on Sunday, January 14, 5 PM, at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall.

This is Albany Pro Musica’s 18th year of hosting this beloved invitational festival of regional high schools.  This year, APM’s Composer-In-Residence, Ola Gjeilo, and local group The Musicians of Ma’alwyck will participate.

The participating High Schools are:

Albany High School Select Choir

Burnt Hills – Ballston Lake High School Concert Choir

Queensbury High School Madrigal Singers

Saratoga Springs High School Choraliers

Shenendehowa High School Mostly A Cappella

Rex Smith is Master of Ceremonies.   The High School Choirs will all perform individually, followed by a grand finale where they sing with Albany Pro Musica and The Musicians of Ma’alwyck, accompanied by Ola Gjeilo on piano.  These combined voices and instrumentals, under the baton of APM Artistic Director José Daniel Flores-Caraballo, combining to create an amazing sound.

This season we continue to see Albany Pro Musica emerging as one of the leading performing arts organizations in the Northeast.   From trademark a cappella music to thrilling performances with the world-renown American String Quartet and more, this 37th season is proving to be unforgettable!

Broadway Returns

By popular demand, Albany Pro Musica and the Pro Musica Pops on a tour de force of some of the all-time favorite Broadway tunes.

Lux Aeterna

May 6th at 3 PM, Tickets: $45, $35, Student: $15

The Albany Pro Musica Masterworks Series presents Morten Lauridsen’s exquisite Lux Aeterna and Michael Haydn’s moving Requiem. Lauridsen was named “American Choral Master” by the National Endowment for the Arts and received the National Medal of Arts “for his composition of choral works combining musical beauty, power and spiritual depth that have thrilled audiences worldwide.” Under the shadow of his famous brother Joseph, Michael Haydn wrote some of the most beautiful music, of which his Requiem is his masterpiece. Two masterworks from two contrasting eras in one memorable performance with the Orchestra Pro Musica.
