Albany Med, Columbia Development Companies, The Bone and Joint Center Hold Groundbreaking for $4.5 Million Medical Complex in Clifton Park

A groundbreaking for a new medical complex in Clifton Park was held on April 29 with leadership from Albany Med, Columbia Development Companies, The Bone and Joint Center, local elected officials, and community partners.

The 14,400 square-foot medical office complex, expected to open in October 2019, will be located just west of Shenendehowa High School at 989 NYS Route 146 in Clifton Park, and will house an Albany Med EmUrgentCare, a newly renovated and expanded satellite office for orthopaedic specialists with The Bone and Joint Center, and other medical tenants.

“Albany Med is committed to doing all we can to make the highest quality health care more accessible to residents of Saratoga County and throughout the region,” said Dennis P. McKenna, M.D., Albany Med executive vice president, president of the faculty practice, and senior associate dean for clinical affairs. “We are grateful to our partners at The Bone and Joint Center for joining us to help us provide expert care to the Clifton Park community.”

The $4.5 million project was designed by HCP Architects and the facility is being built by BBL Medical Facilities in collaboration with Columbia Development Companies, who will own and manage the space once it’s completed.

“The medical facility on this site was originally constructed in 1993,” said Richard Rosen, vice president and partner of Columbia Development Companies. “There is nothing permanent except change. This new project exemplifies community redevelopment addressing the changes in health care. Improved parking, new infrastructure, better patient flow, and new technology will enhance the delivery of care in these new modern facilities.”

The site was the previous home of a medical office built in 1993 for several small practices including Capital Care Physicians, and a smaller Bone and Joint satellite office.

When the facility opens, Albany Med EmUrgentCare will operate from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day, including holidays, for patients of all ages seeking treatment for urgent and non-urgent illnesses and injuries such as sprains, strains and fractures, cuts and lacerations, colds and flu, ear and throat infections, asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia and more.

Also in the fall, fellowship-trained doctors and surgeons of The Bone and Joint Center will once again provide treatment for orthopaedic injuries and conditions affecting the ankle, back, elbow, foot, hand, hip, knee, neck, shoulder, spine, and wrist in addition to specializing in general orthopaedics, orthopaedic oncology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, sports medicine, total joint replacement and revision, and trauma at the Clifton Park facility.
