Albany Institute of History & Art To Host Work of Art Fundraiser

The Albany Institute of History & Art will host the fourth annual Work of Art fundraiser on Wednesday, November 18, from 5 – 8 p.m.

The centerpiece of this year’s Work of Art will be a silent art auction. This auction will celebrate and promote one of the Capital Region’s greatest assets: its vibrant community of working artists. The Albany Institute has worked with contemporary artists for generations, and this art auction will continue the museum’s support of local art. Proceeds raised will be shared between the Albany Institute and the presenting artists, encouraging generations of art creators and art appreciators to continue to thrive in the Capital Region. Artists with work in the auction include Fern Apfel, Robert Carmell, Marcia Clark, Katie DeGroot, Emily Dorr, Gary Maggio, Irad Ingraham, Larry Kagen, Thomas Nelson, Dorothea Osborn, William Pettit, and Susan Stuart. A sampling of the work that will be available in the art auction may be found on the museum’s website.

Guests will enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres catered by Mazzone Hospitality and will be invited to preview the museum’s newest exhibition Masterworks: 225 Years of Collecting, which opens on November 21. This event is open to both museum members and community members.

Tickets start at $75. For more information and to purchase tickets, guests may order them online, call Briana at 518.463.4478, ext. 412, or email her at membership@albanyinstitute.org. Tickets will not be mailed. Guests are asked to check in at the registration desk on the night of the event.

This event is hosted by the Work of Art Committee: Deborah Groesbeck Bennett, Frances Chiaretta-Smith, Beth Desmond, Sarah Elmendorf DeStefano, Barbara Featherstonhaugh, Denise Gorman, Barbara K. Hoehn, Ellen Jabbur, Kimberly Sanger Jones, Jean Lewis Maloy, Morgan White Whalen.
