February 14, 2025Albany County Women’s Legislative Caucus, Legislature Launches Professional Clothing Drive
The Albany County Women’s Legislative Caucus, along with the Legislature in full, is proud to announce that it is collecting new and gently used professional women’s clothing to help people look and feel their best in the workplace leading up to its celebration of Women’s History Month on March 7.
Items currently being accepted include:
- Suits
- Blouses
- Skirts
- Slacks
- Dresses
- Shoes
- Accessories
- Jackets
- Blazers
- Coats
- Purses
- Briefcases
Donations are being accepted at the Legislature’s offices in the Albany County Harold A. Joyce Office Building at 112 State Street, Albany, NY 12207, Room 710. Donations will support the Albany County Sheriff’s Homeless Improvement Project (SHIP) which opened a new wing earlier this year to serve as transitional housing for women and children experiencing homelessness.
The drive culminates with a celebration of Women’s History Month on March 7 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the County Office Building’s Cahill Room. The event will feature a lifetime achievement awards ceremony and panel discussion titled “Moving Forward Together – Women Educating & Inspiring Generations” with distinguished Capital Region women in education, healthcare, government, and law.
The clothing drive is also running concurrently with a pair of other current charitable efforts by the Legislature.
The Women’s Caucus is also collecting feminine hygiene products, infant formula, diapers, and personal cleaning supplies as part of its Women’s & Children Supplies Drive that runs through Tuesday, February 18. Donations will go to SHIP as well. The Albany County Legislative Black Caucus is collecting non-perishable food items during the 7th Annual Martin Luther King Food Drive that also runs through February 18. Donations will support the Northeastern Regional Food Bank and financial donations can be made online at https://give.regionalfoodbank.net/give/443930/#!/donation/checkout or by contacting the Legislative Black Caucus’ Offices at (518) 447-4944 or AlbanyCountyLBC@albanycountyny.gov.
