Albany Airport is Flying High!

Big news at the airport! Governor Cuomo has announced the awarding of $22.1 million in funding to Albany International Airport as part of a $42.1 million project to modernize the facility.  The airport redesign includes: terminal rehabilitation and passenger amenities improvements including new carpets, wall finishes, tile floors, energy-efficient lighting fixtures and better Internet connectivity; a new 1,000-unit, multi-level parking garage; and parking access improvements. And after 50 years in the making, we’re happy to report Governor Cuomo also announced that the construction of a direct connection between I-87 and the Albany International Airport will soon be underway. This project has been a top priority of the Chamber, and we’ve been a leading advocate. When completed in late 2020, the revamped Exit 4 will not only improve public safety, it will reduce the all-too-familiar bottlenecks in the area and greatly enhance economic development opportunities throughout the region. Thank you to our members. Without your support, this project would never have gotten off the ground. Because of you, our advocacy successes continue.
