Advocacy at its Best

This is how it’s supposed to work. Albany is considering a big public policy issue, and instead of rushing to a vote, state legislators take time to listen to the concerns of stakeholders before making a decision. That’s exactly what happened at the Chamber’s Albany office on Thursday, March 21. Assemblymembers McDonald, Fahy, Woerner, Walsh and Steck conducted a roundtable to discuss the potential impacts of legalizing recreational marijuana with our members. Instead of pushing this through in the budget, these Assemblymembers are tapping the brakes on this important issue so that they can listen to the concerns of the business community. Stop and listen; that’s how good public policy is made. So thank you Assemblymenbers McDonald, Fahy, Woerner, Walsh and Steck for taking the time to listen to the concerns of the Chamber and our members. And thank you to our members. Because of you, our voice in the Capitol is strong.
